Honeymoon remark: Ramdev approaches SC against plaints

PNS

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev approached the Supreme Court on Monday saying that he was scared to travel through the country for election purposes after a dozen complaints were registered against him following his controversial “honeymoon” remark targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s alleged visits to Dalit homes.

With complaints being lodged throughout the country against Ramdev, his counsel Mukul Rohatgi urged the Court to transfer all complaints/FIRs to a single court where he was willing to face trial. “There have been 12 complaints in four days. My client is scared of travelling for election purpose.”

But the bench refused to stay the complaints against him. The bench headed by CJI RM lodha said that the court can intervene only if summons were issued by courts across the country. The court posted the matter for Friday after Rohatgi apprehended that since elections were on till May 12, he expected summons to be issued from various courts.
