The Supreme Court monitoring the probe into the Odisha chit fund scam on Friday allowed the petitioner in the case to bring to its notice all instances that may suggest a tardy and ineffective probe by CBI.
Instead of directly approaching Court, the petitioner Alok Jena had confronted the amicus curiae senior advocate Shyam Divan who moved an application in Court to suggest that CBI was short-staffed and was not receiving cooperation from the State Government.
The Bench headed by Justice TS Thakur reminded Divan that an amicus was an officer of the Court and it was for the State Government or aggrieved party (CBI) to approach the Court. Giving a direction to withdraw the application, the Bench cautioned Divan against turning into a PIl litigant.
Divan said the information he received was sent by petitioner. The Court asked petitioner to independently file an application highlighting portions of investigation where CBI is faltering.
