Higher courts will surely reverse this bad verdict like in Jaya case: Swamy

BJP leader and petitioner in the 2G scam case Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said the Prime Minister should opt for a strategy on war footing to tackle the investigation and prosecution in corruption cases. Terming the 2G judgment as a bad judgment, Swamy said the Government should immediately appeal against the verdict.

Speaking to the media, Swamy accused the BJP Government of appointing 2G accused lawyers Mukul Rohatgi and Ranjit Kumar as Attorney General and Solicitor General.

“The conduct of many law officers was doubtful in the prosecution of corruption case. Rohatgi was appearing for most of the accused even in trial court. Making these kind of people AG and SG had send wrong messages.

The Prime Minister must do things in war footing to strategise the fight against corruption,” said Swamy, adding that 2G cases Special Public Prosecutor Anand Grover did an excellent job.

He said Grover and the investigating agencies should immediately take coordinated approach in filing appeal against the 2G court’s verdict in High Court. “I am sure the higher courts will reverse this bad judgment of the trial court like what happened in the Jayalalithaa and Sasikala case. But this time, we must  keep vigil on the corrupt forces and corny capitalists,” said Swamy.

Swamy pointed out that many honest officers like ED’s Investigating Officer Rajeshwar Singh are facing hardships from many corrupt persons. “From 2010 many in UPA and in our Government are gunning for him.

I have gone to the Supreme Court four times to protect the honest officer. Now CBI and ED Chiefs are honest officers. The Prime Minister should call these two persons to evolve strategies in corruption cases,” said Swamy.
