The birthday festivities of Kamal Haassan, the ageing superstar of Tamil films turned out to be an anti-climax as the actor failed to give any insight into the political party which he was planning to launch. “I am in politics and I will launch a political party. But I am yet to finalise the manifesto or the name of the party. My dream is to create a good Tamil Nadu,” Haasan told reporters at Chennai on Tuesday.
The day happened to be the 63rd birthday of the actor who is on a collision course with the AIADMK Government in Tamil Nadu. Though he had declared that he would announce the details of his proposed political party on his birthday, the actor developed cold feet by Tuesday and refused to divulge any details about the political entity.
Haasan said he would undertake a State-wide tour from January next year. “I would like to interact with the people of the State and understand their problems. Once I complete the interaction, I’ll have an idea about the kind of party which I should launch,” he said.
There is no hurry to announce the name of the party,” he said.
The actor said things were going wrong continuously in Tamil Nadu and it was time to rectify them. “This has forced me to come out with a political outfit. But before launching the party, I have to complete my professional commitments. let me finish the job I have taken up. Once the commitments are overm I’ll be able to furnish the details of the party,” he said.
The actor said he would soon launch a mobile app by name MaiamWhistle. “This mobile app will be more of a platform for public. Aim would be to reach out to people” said Haasan. But he did not explain the details about the mobile app. “There are 20 to 25 people working on this mission. We will let you know the detail once the works are completed,” said Haasan.
Even as Kamal Haasan was addressing the media about his political ambitions, Tamil TV news channels aired the live pictures of another film actor-turned-politician being helped to walk along the water logged roads in a Chennai suburb. Vijayakant, founder of the DMDK, who had given lot of expectations to the people through his political outfit DMDK had to be carried by two of his associates when the former undertook a roadshow on Tuesday. The actor was seen struggling to communicate with the people as he is not in the best of health.
