The IAS officers in Gujarat have shown solidarity towards their counter parts in Delhi as the IAS Officers Association of Gujarat on Wednesday issued a statement condemning the assault on Chief Secretary of Delhi.

Referring to the incident of manhandling of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash apparently by two legislators of the ruling AAP at Chief Minister Kejriwal’s residence on Tuesday as “shocking” and “reprehensible”, the Gujarat IAS Association stated that “we stand very strongly with the Chief Secretary of Delhi and with all the colleagues of NCT cadre.”

Signed by Hareet Shukla, Secretary and Arvind Agarwal, President of the Association, the statement further read, “We believe that this attack on the Executive Head of the Govt is an assault on the administration and needs to be dealth with very seriously by the Police.”

Stating that bureaucracy worked anonymously, tirelessly and within the framework of Constitution, such incidents affect the moral of the officers and their delivery in the future. They have called for initiating adequate and legal steps urgently against those responsible for the incident.
