The Gujarat Police have got a transfer warrant from Gandhinagar court to question 72-year-old self-styled godman Asaram Bapu in a sexual assault case.
Two sisters hailing from Surat filed complaint against Asaram, who is in Jodhpur jail and his son Narayan Sai for repeatedly exploiting them sexually.
Though the police complaint was filed in Surat, the alleged incident of sexual assault took place in Ahmedabad police jurisdiction according to the complainants. Hence, the Ahmedabad Police have initiated a procedure to bring Asaram for questioning. Talking to The Pioneer, Ahmedabad Joint Commissioner of Police JK Bhatt said that as the police have got evidence against the godman, transfer warrant was procured from a court in order to interrogate him. A team of Ahmedabad police would leave for Jodhpur by Thursday evening to bring the imprisoned septuagenarian at Ahmedabad.
Of the two sisters, the older filed complaint against Asaram and the younger one accused his son for repeated assault during 1997 to 2006 in Ahmedabad and Surat respectively.
