With a view to prevent children and the youth from becoming victims and committing suicide, the Gujarat Government is mulling to ban ‘Blue Whale Game’.
On Tuesday, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said instructions have been issued to the Chief Secretary and Home Department to initiate measures in this direction.
If requires, the State Government is thinking in the direction to issue an Ordinance to announce orders at the administrative and executive levels. “I want to tell the people of the State that Blue Whale is turning to be dangerous. People are committing suicides,” said the CM while distributing free NAMO E-Tab (New Avenues of Modern Education through Tablets) under the “Gyankunj Project”.
The statement by the Chief Minister comes soon after reports of a youth from Banaskantha district committing suicide in Ahmedabad as a final step of playing Blue Whale game appeared in local media a couple of days ago. Though the police denied that suicide was due to the game and that he was suffering from cancer, the State Government acted promptly in order to prevent any such incidents in future.
It is worth mentioning that the victim of the online game in the State had put up a video post on his social media platform stating that he had downloaded the Blue Whale game and as a last step he was committing suicide.
Rupani made it clear that the state government is firm to ban Blue Whale and would create awareness among youngsters to stay away from such games. The state government is moving rapidly to ban Blue Whale in Gujarat, he added.
