The Gujarat Government is all set to come out with new policies related to tourism, agro industries and renewable energy generation. The fresh policies are aimed at attracting investments.

Sources said that existing policies on agro industry and tourism have expired and need to be restructured. Other polices related to electronic industries, roof top solar power generation, canal-based power generation and renewable energy certification would be completely new concept, said a senior official in the State industries department.

When contacted, Saurabh Patel, Minister for Energy, Tourism and Petrochemicals confirmed the development and said that the Gujarat Government would soon come out with the policies. He, however, didn’t reveal more details on the proposed polices.

Patel said that the State Government would also plan a large-scale industrial exhibition at Gandhinagar to support the upcoming and existing policies on various sectors. The international standard exhibitions would kick-start as run-up to biennial event ‘Vibrant Gujarat Summit’, to be organised in January 2015. Initiated in January 2003, the biennial summit is brainchild of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

“These exhibitions would start right from October 2014 and would continue till March 31, 2015. The Gujarat Government will remain as facilitator and join hands with various trade and industrial bodies for the exhibitions. We would support the organiser in inviting the delegates from across the world,” said Patel.

According to him, the industrial exhibitions focused on sectors like tourism, plastic, petro-chemicals, agro industries and textiles etc. The

five-month long exhibitions are expected to become win-win platform for visiting delegates from various countries and at the same time the local people would get exposure on global scale at their doorstep, said the Minister.
