Gujarat BJP sets target, vows to create history

Buoyed by the biggest ever victory of their party in the country’s largest State — Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat BJP is now eying to create history by winning 150 seats out 182 in the upcoming Assembly elections to be held later this year.

Expressing confidence to register an emphatic win, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani stated that people of Gujarat would give minimum 150 seats out of 182 to Bharatiya Janata Party in the ensuing Assembly polls.

“BJP’s historic victory in Uttar Pradesh overpowered traditional politics of caste, religion, nepotism and appeasement. Our party’s development poll plank was endorsed by the people in the largest State of India. Same will be the case in Gujarat too,” said the elated Chief Minister while addressing jubilant BJP workers at the party’s national president Amit Shah’s Assembly constituency Naranpura in Ahmedabad.

People have shown way to Casab (Kasab) – Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party and hailed performance of Modi Government in Centre coupled with the Prime Minister’s historic decision of demonetisation, he added.

BJP president Jitu Vaghani and Deputy CM Nitin Patel too echoed similar feelings saying that the surgical strike had silenced Pakistan and demonetization had silenced those with black money.

“The national president of the party Amit Shah was confident to win 300 plus seats in Uttar Pradesh. However, exit polls were showing some different stories after completion of polling in all the five States,” said Patel.

Meanwhile, even after shocking defeat in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand the Congress workers too are seen encouraged after the clear victory in Punjab and the party’s emergence as single largest party in Manipur and Goa.

“Three out of five States that went to polls gave mandate in favour of Congress. Voters of Gujarat too repeat the same in the upcoming Assembly elections. They would reject BJP’s anti farmers, anti-Dalit and anti-women policies,” said Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Bharatsinh Solanki.

Not only at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan – the State headquarters of Congress in Ahmedabad, the congress workers celebrated their party’s performance in the three states in all the major cities of Gujarat.
