Guj love jehadi's bail plea rejected

PNS

In a much-talked about alleged ‘love jehad’ case of Nadiad town in Gujarat, a local court rejected the bail plea of notorious bootlegger Masum Kalu Mahida, who eloped with a Hindu girl half of his age.

The girl’s father has also requested for brain mapping test on the accused to bring out the truth. Mahida, who is 40-years-old already has two wives. He, however, claimed that the girl came to him willingly and there was no intention of love jehad.

During the hearing on Mahida’s bail application, the father of the girl said that nikah of the bootlegger was fake as the signature of the bride’s father was fake and the signature of the lawyer and Kazi is also seemingly the same.

Doubting on the credentials of the local police, the girl’s father also said that since Mahida was in illegal trade of liquor, he shared good rapport with the police, hence the case should be handed over to CID crime. On this ground, he also requested to keep the bootlegger in a jail outside Kheda district.

To justify his marriage with the girl a video was released by Mahida and circulated on social media in which the girl, belonging to the Patel community, was saying that she had left home willingly and without any pressure.  However, the relatives of the girl lodged a case against the bootlegger and kept on saying that the girl was forced to talk in favour of Mahida in the video.

The central Gujarat town Nadiad, nearly 50 kms from Ahmedabad, witnessed bandh on June 15.  Right wing organisations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajarang Dal also came into picture and supported the relatives of the girl. VHP and Bajrang Dal workers have demanded to rescue the girl, who is a student of physiotherapy.
