Except leader of Opposition Shankersinh Vaghela and former loP Shanktisinh Gohil, Gujarat Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala suspended all the Congress MlAs present in the House for a day on Wednesday for shouting slogans on the issue of their demand for a discussion on water scarcity in the State.
On the second day of the Budget Session, Vaghela demanded a discussion on water situation in wake of delay in rain after Question Hour. He earlier moved an application to the Speaker asking permission for the debate, which was rejected.
Despite the fact, he raised the issue in the House saying that dire water situation has been created in parts of Gujarat due to delay in rain. In spite of knowing the harsh reality, the State Government refrained to address the issue in the Budget, he said in the House adding that his party would like to have discussion on this important issue.
Vala, however, stick to his decision saying that since the application on the subject was rejected, no discussion can take place. However, Vaghela insisted for discussion and other Congress MlAs stood up on their place in his support and started shouting slogans against the Anandiben Government.
