In view of upcoming lok Sabha elections, the Gujarat BJP has chalked out a plan to involve thousands of folk artists to narrate failure of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre as well as to tell the success story of Narendra Modi Government.

The task to identify well-known folk artists that include, singers, storytellers, drama artists, cultural groups and organisations has been given BJP Cultural Cell.

“We have formed district level committees of four persons that include district convener, two co-conveners and a State representative in all the districts of Gujarat. The process is on to create such committees at tehsil level also to make concrete list of folk artists,” said Asit Vora, State convener of Cultural Cell.

Vora, who is also former Ahmedabad Mayor and artist himself, said that during his term as Ahmedabad Mayor he utilised artists to make Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and Kankaria lake Carnival famous and it worked. “Now we are planning to inform grassroot level people about how Gujarat changed under BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s leadership,” he said adding that at the same time, blunders of Congress-led UPA Government would also be projected by these artists.

As general elections would come closer, the artists to be identified in next one month would start performing in every nook and corner of the State. The BJP think tank is in the process to finalise dates of such folk shows, especially in the rural parts of Gujarat.

Not only the big names of Gujarati folk artists, said Vora adding that an army of promising young folk artists would also be deployed for the purpose. Issues like UPA Government’s faulty foreign policy, unemployment, inflation, corruption and scams among others will be presented in an interesting manner before the public, he said.

Folk artists of other States, who are also residents of Gujarat would also be identified by Cultural Cell and their performances would be organised in the localities of non-Gujarati communities. large number of Marathis, Bengalis, Biharis and Punjabi are staying in different parts of the State; the artists from their own States settled in Gujarat would be given stage for the purpose.
