Grand alliance leaders take potshots at NDA

The spokesmen of grand alliance partners, AICC media in-charge Randeep Surjewala, Pawan Verma of JD(U) and Manoj Jha of the RJD on Thursday said for the last 16 months entire nation and Bihar is asking one question: “When the acchche din will come or after November 8 Narendra Modi will once again deceive them.”

At a joint Press conference, the three leaders posed a series of questions to Modi and the BJP and said they did not fulfil a single promise on inflation, black money, farming or industries.

They said there was fierce infighting in the BJP and its allies; there was no consensus among the leaders and about a dozen have fixed their eyes on the CM post. “PM Modi and BJP are shouting jumlas of special package and development but the reality becomes clearer looking at the functioning of seven Union Ministers from Bihar,” said Surjewala adding, they could have done a better job but failed utterly.

He said Modi had promised in Champaran to reopen closed sugar mills but still 18 out of 28 mills are still closed despite the fact that the Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh hails from that region. Similarly Food and Civil Supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan failed to help farmers and traders who were compelled to sell their products at low rates and 115 FCI centres did not purchase grains from them. Despite Telecommunication Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad Bihar ranks lowest in teledensity and network coverage of BSNl has become a nightmare. “The only thing these Ministers did is making castles in the air,” The Congress leader said.

These leaders also pointed out that ever since Modi came to power, there is a loss of 123.60 lakh ton of the food grain production as compared to preceding year and the promise of 50% bonus to farmers was trashed. “Any one can imagine the reality of providing 2 crore jobs each year when industries are facing a slump and the growth of core infrastructure industry was reduced to 2.4% in the first quarter of 2015-16 which was 8.7% in June 2014,” they added.

Surjewala said freight fare was increased twice in last 16 months, service tax was enhanced from 12.36% to 14%, prices of onion, pulses and edible oil skyrocketed. The prices of petroleum in interntional market reduced 56.61% and accordingly here the diesel should have been priced at Rs24.61 per litre and petrol Rs30.99.

He alleged that Modi Government failed to utilise Rs28,446 crore of defence budget in 2014-15 and Pakistan violated ceasefire 852 times killing 12 soldiers and 16 civilians. Pakistan-sponsored terrorists attacked Gurdaspur, Udhampur and Jammu and Kashmir but the Modi Government’s policy was still unclear. The leaders of the three parties said, “Na hawabaji na chalbaji, Bihar to denge sarkar kamkaji.”
