Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar of the Shiv Sena has landed in trouble, with the MNS group leader in the Brihanumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sandeep Deshpande coming out with an audio clip that reveals that she had allegedly taken bribes from contractors for allocating works under the Rs100 crore Mayor’s development fund. Within days after his party’s corporator from Borivli (East) Chetan Kadam lodged a complaint with the State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), alleging she had indulged in corruption in the distribution of works under the Mayor’s Fund, MNS’ group leader in the BMC produced an audio clip in which Senhal Ambekar is allegedly heard demanding money from a contractor.

Deshpande asked the State ACB to conduct an enquiry against the Mayor based on the audio clip produced by him. Kadam told the ACB in his complaint that though he had not made any request for money from the fund for execution of development works in his ward, Snehal Ambekar ad allocated money from the Mayor’s fund for that work based on a request from another corporator.
