Following denial of retired Justice RA Mehta to take charge as Gujarat lokayukta, the State Government has become proactive to fill the post vacant for the past one decade.
According to sources in the State legal Department, the Gujarat Government has proposed three names to Governor Kamla Beniwal as well as leader of Opposition Shankersinh Vaghela to take decision unanimously on the controversial issue.
The three names for Gujarat lokayukta suggested by the State Government are: Former Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Bhagwati Prasad, former in-charge Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court Al Dave and former judge of Gujarat High Court RP Dholakia. However, Vaghela has rejected the proposal and asked the State Government for another names.
