In yet another setback to Asaram, his daughter Bharati on Friday distanced herself from the self-styled godman saying that long back she didn’t follow her father and had taken different path.

Bharati reacted post media reports that now she is handling Asaram’s empire including plethora of Ashrams across India and abroad. She said her situation was like sandwich as the management of Ashram already knowing that she parted way from Asaram 17 years back and at the same time people outside Ashram still believed that she looks after Ashrams.

In connection with another rape case against Asaram, she came to court along with her mother lakshmi who were named as accomplices in the case by victim. It pertains to a complaint filed by a Surat-based woman, who accused Asaram of raping her multiple times between 1997 and 2006 at his Ashram in Ahmedabad city. Although hearing in Gandhinagar court could not take place as Asaram, who was to appear in the court via video conference could not. The local court has now fixed May 4 as the next date of hearing.

On Jodhpur court’s verdict against her father, Bharati said that her family would respect the court, but in the past saints had to face such charges whether true or false. She claimed ignorance of Asaram’s future legal actions, after Jodhpur court pronounced him to be involved in rape of a minor and sentenced him to imprisonment for life.
