The rally, which was to comprise of nine thousand two wheelers escorting Parrikar, a former Goa

Chief Minister, from the airport to Panaji, a distance of around 40 kms.

Speaking to The Pioneer South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar said that the rally had been postponed in few of the fresh unrest in Kashmir and a series of meeting which were lined up in the Defence Ministry, which were to be chaired by Parrikar.

“He has himself conveyed to us that he will be unable to come to Goa on Tuesday because of these important meetings,” Savoikar said.

Savoikar also said that the rally had been planned by the state unit of the BJP because Parrikar was scheduled to be in Goa on Tuesday. He however said that a future date had not been decided as after as holding the rally in the near future is concerned.

The proposed victory rally had seen criticism from the Congress party as well as civil society which had accused the BJP of trying to use the military action for political purposes.
