The State’s infamy of being associated with sex crimes continues as a case of a yoga teacher from Uttar Pradesh allegedly raping a German tourist has come to light.
Krishna Sharma, 37, was arrested on Monday evening at the Goa airport just as he was about to embark back to New Delhi, after a 33-year-old German tourist accused him of rape. Sharma has been remanded to seven days in police custody. Sharma had been imparting yoga lessons in Goa to the tourists and the victim had signed up for yoga classes with him since October, according to inspector Tushar Vernekar.
The incident took place at Mandrem, a beach village frequented by European tourists nearly 30 kms to the North of the State capital Panaji.
