An FIR has been filed against a former Samajwadi Party (SP) member of Parliament on charges of filing “frivolous” complaints and RTI applications to allegedly “malign and harass” officials of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
Ajay Kumar Ahluwalia, Assistant Director, KVIC had lodged an FIR against the former MP with the Connaught Place Police Station. Ahluwalia alleged that Singh asked for Rs 25 lakh for withdrawal of his complaints. Ahluwalia has also charged Singh for defamation.
The complaint alleged that the former MP has filed around 30 complaints with the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and 15 RTI applications against KVIC and its officials seeking “baseless” information like the cost of construction of Khadi Plazas at New Delhi and Mumbai.
The police said that a case of extortion and defamation had been lodged against the former SP MP. “We are investigating the case on various points,” ACP (Connaught Place) Dhirendra Pratap Singh said. The complaint has been filed after seeking proper legal opinion from the higher authorities as case against the MP pertains to serious charges like that of extortion, sources said.
“The rampant complaints started giving mental trauma to the KVIC authorities, who are always overworked. Not only that, when the harassed KVIC officials approached him to reason out his grudge against Khadi, he demanded Rs 25 lakh for withdrawal of the complaints and RTI query. In one of his RTI he questioned the tendering process of the proposed KVIC staff quarters and threatened to frame CEO of KVIC if he could not meet satisfactory response to questions,” the complaint said.
Yashvir has several criminal cases against him including one at Muradabad under rioting (IPC Section-147), voluntarily causing hurt (IPC Section-323) and of intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace. He is also an accused of kidnapping 18 Zila Parishad members at gunpoint from Shiva Resort of Rishikesh in Uttarakhand in 2013, in which he also remained behind the bars for several months as a prime accused of the case.
