The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday left the decision to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to form the Government in Delhi saying it would consider all proposals by the AAP if they approach BJP seeking its support.
Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said the BJP wants a stable Government in Delhi and it could consider supporting AAP to avert any possibility of re-elections.
He accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, the second largest in the Delhi Assembly of creating political instability saying the party was running away from its responsibilities even as it was better placed than the BJP.
Goel said it was immaterial as to which party forms the Government; what matters is political stability in the national Capital and development for which people of Delhi have voted in the just-concluded polls. He, however, made it clear that it was AAP which was supposed to approach the BJP for formation of Government.
“Any political party goes to polls to win and eventually form the Government. It is a precarious situation where the second largest and the better placed party does not want to be tested. It is a golden opportunity for AAP to form the Government and deliver the promises they made to the public who have voted for them,” Goel said.
“The AAP has categorically refused supporting the BJP. Also there is no question of getting support from the Congress. In such circumstances, it is the duty of AAP to explore the possibilities,” he added.
The Delhi BJP president also slammed Kejriwal and his party for their criticism of other parties and their leaders.
“The AAP should immediately stop their abusive program and focus on positive agenda in electoral politics. This sends across a wrong message in the society about the political class at large. Its criticism of Coalition Government is also unjustified as the same is not a crime but need of the hour. Kejriwal should restrain from making baseless allegations and comments on political parties particularly when he himself is a part of it,” Goel said.
