State-level 65th Republic Day celebrations passed off peacefully in Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday amid tight security arrangements. Governor NN Vohra hoisted the Tricolour at a State-level  function here in MAM stadium. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his council of Ministers and other dignitaries attended the colourful parade.

After taking salute of the impressive parade Governor NN Vohra, in his Republic day address, cautioned the security forces to maintain a tight vigil without lowering their guard along the frontiers.

Referring to the surge in incidents of ceasefire violations and regular attempts at infiltration Vohra said, “the repeated breach of the ceasefire agreement and continuing attempts at infiltration across the International Border and the line of Control in the past year have yet again disrupted the normalcy and caused varied problems for our people who live in villages along the national border”.

He, however, expressed hope that our neighbour shall respond positively to the initiatives which have recently been taken by the Government of India to once again urge it to maintain calm. Vohra avoided raising the issue of suspension of trade and peace bus service between the two countries.
