Facing opposition from their families against their wedding, a youth shot his lover and later ended his life at Gonda on Wednesday morning. A case was registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
As per reports, Anuradha of Ramnath Hamlet of Mankapur area got married to Susheel Kumar of Karnailganj Bazar area of Gonda few months back. After marriage, the couple moved to Chandigarh as Susheel’s parents stayed there.
To meet his sister, Anuradha’s brother Deepak Pandey aka Bunty used to visit Chandigarh regularly. Duing his visits, he came in contact with Susheel’s sister Menu (22) and the two fell in love. Upon learning about their affair, they opposed it and asked the couple to part ways.
On September 21, Meenu suddenly disappeared from her Chandigarh home.
While searching for her, the family learnt that Bunty too was missing from the house. The two families subsequently tried to contact both but failed. On Tuesday night, Bunty and Meenu returned to Gonda and told their families oftheir intent to tie the knot. However, Bunty’s parents strongly opposed his idea and told Meenu to return to her Chandigarh home.
Irked with his parnets’ refusal, Bunty whipped out a revolver and shot Meenu before his family members on Wednesday morning. Before the numbed family members could do react, , Bunty reloaded the gun, put it on his temple and puleld thr trigger. The family rushed the victims to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced them dead upon arrival. The police was investigating but could not recover any suicide note.
Meanwhile in Gorakhpur, at least four women were feared drowned when their boat capsized while crossing Rohin river on Wednesday morning. As per reports, over half a dozen women from Bankata hamlet Gorakhpur took a boat to cross the river to collect wood from the forest. As the boat reached midstream, it suddenly capsized. While two women along with the boat man managed to swim across to safety and another was rescued by a local, four women drowned. The police along with divers were pressed into service to search the missing women but failed to locate them till late evening.
