The allegations that a resident of Trump Towers Delhi NCR in Sector 65, Gurugram, and his family were placed under house arrest have been disputed by developer M3M India, which has clarified that the issue relates to a building-wide lift access protocol introduced during ongoing interior fit-out work.
The developer said the resident and his family were never prevented from leaving their apartment or accessing common areas within the tower. Both staircases, designated as fire and emergency exits, remained accessible, while the lifts continued to operate and could be called from other floors. The apartment has two main elevators, and no emergency or safety facility was restricted.
The access-control arrangement was implemented uniformly across apartments where occupancy had not commenced. With more than 200 workers entering the tower every day for interior fit-out work commissioned by homeowners, floor-level lift calling was restricted to occupied apartments to regulate the movement of workers across residential floors and protect the privacy and security of residents.
M3M India said the homeowner had been informed about the arrangement through an email dated October 3, 2026. The communication stated that the Lift Operating Panel serving the apartment would be activated once the homeowner was ready to move in. Direct lift access to the apartment has since been activated.
Around 50 families are currently residing in the tower and availing hospitality services provided by Roseate, a five-star hospitality chain. The developer said the arrangement was intended to ensure the safety and privacy of existing residents while fit-out activities continued in other apartments.
M3M India has maintained that the characterisation of the access-control measure as house arrest is misleading and said it remains available to address any concerns raised by the homeowner.
