In view of upcoming Assembly polls, the Gujarat unit of Bharatiya Janata Party is in final stage of planning to hold ‘Vikas Gatha Rath Yatra’ across the State in September to tell the development works done by BJP ruled Governments in Gujarat during the past two decades coupled with three years of Modi Government at the Centre.

The yatra will travel through all 182 Assembly constituencies and travel more than 5000 km. Of the total 18,000 villages in the State, the yatra will pass through 10,000 villages. Apart from all the eight municipal corporations — including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Vadodara, Surat, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar and Junagath, the Rath Yatra will also travel all the district headquarters in the State.

The month-long yatra will not only attended by the top BJP leaders, but some of them including Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address public meetings at different venues. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will lead the entire mass event.

‘’Assembly polls in the State are scheduled in December this year. This Yatra is aimed at creating awareness among the people about the development works done by the saffron brigade,’’ said a State BJP leader who is associated with the micro planning of the Rath Yatra, adding that the route of the Yatra has been divided in four zones to earmark locations of the public meetings and other related events including ensuring participation of large number of people.

Organisation team of the State BJP led by president Jitu Vaghani are in the process of making detailed planning for the success of the Yatra. The party’s national president Amit Shah too is actively involved and giving important inputs for the event. ‘’We are planning at least one public meeting in each assembly constituency. The party leadership wants huge rallies in all the Municipal Corporations,’’ he said.
