Suspended Gujarat cop Sanjeev Bhatt was once again mired in controversy as an FIR was filed against him for allegedly slapping his

commando. In the complaint, commando Jignesh Patel claimed that the IPS officer had slapped on his face for refusing to leash the dogs.

According to the FIR, after returning from his regular evening jogging, Bhatt asked Patel to tie up his dogs near the temporary shed in front of his bungalow as the shed is close to the place where the commandos reside. Patel refused to tie up the dogs there. Angered by his refusal, Bhatt stepped out of his car and slapped the commando.

“The FIR had been accepted. The commando admitted to the civil hospital after he complained of severe ear ache following the slap from Bhatt,” said the police officer investigating in the case.

Bhatt, however, trashed the allegation and claimed that he was having dinner with his family at a restaurant when the alleged incident happened.

The 1988 batch IPS officer is repeatedly involved in controversies. In an affidavit in the Supreme Court, he had alleged complicity on the part of the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 riots.

He also deposed against Modi before the Nanavati Commission, probing the riots.
