PC George, former chief whip of Kerala’s Congress-led UDF Government and a rebel leader of the Kerala Congress (M), against whom the party had initiated disqualification proceedings, on Tuesday announced his decision to resign as MlA.
George, who had been at loggerheads with KC(M)’s bribery-accused chairman KM Mani for the past one year, said that he would hand over his letter of resignation to Assembly Speaker N Sakthan on Thursday.
“I am announcing my decision to resign as MlA. let Mani follow my example. He has no right to continue as Minister even for a moment,” George, elected as MlA from Poonjar in Kottayam district, told newsmen. His resignation would not have any immediate impact on the existence of the UDF Government.
