ED seeks PC's custody

Currently in Tihar jail in connection with the INX Media corruption case lodged by the CBI, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram's custody was sought by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday.

The ED told the Court that they have to interrogate Chidambaram regarding the huge money flow in his 17 bank accounts in connection with the INX Media case. Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar ordered production of Chidambaram in Court on Monday at 3pm. Earlier in the day, the Delhi High Court issued notice to Chidambaram and son Karti on CBI and ED's appeal against the anticipatory bail granted in Aircel-Maxis case by trial Judge OP Saini, who retired last month. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear his bail petition in CBI case in INX Media that is scheduled for October 15 before the Bench headed by Justice Bhanumati.

With ED moving for custodial interrogation, Chidambaram's chances of getting out from jail appears bleak. The apex court has already rejected the former Finance Minister's petition against the arrest by ED.

Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI on August 21 and the trial court sent him to Tihar jail on September 5.
