The Election Commission on Wednesday served a show-cause notice on Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his speech in Madhya Pradesh on April 23 in which he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed a law according to which tribals can be shot at. The commission has asked Rahul to submit reply by 48 hours, failing which the commission shall take a decision without further reference to him.

In a notice to Rahul, the commission has stated that Madhya Pradesh chief electoral office has furnished his report along with transcript of Rahul's speech.

Rahul in his speech at Shahdol said, "Narendra Modi has made a new law for tribals, in which there is a line that says tribals can be shot at."
