Two members of a gang, allegedly involved in raping women by threatening them with snakes, who were granted bail earlier were sent back to prison after Cyberabad Police invoked Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act or PD Act against them.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Ananad said that the two accused — Mohammed Ishaq and Tayyab Basalama — were detained  under PD Act as they were habitual offenders involved in rape, criminal trespass, land grabbing, criminal intimidation, cruelty towards animals, and violent and heinous acts by snakes and other weapons.

“Both the rowdy sheeters along with their gang members known as ‘snake gang’ were using snakes and other weapons to frighten women and couples into submission, beating them up, tying the male members and raping the women serially. Moreover, they were also photographing and videographing the entire episode and threatening the victim of exposure if they complaint.

“The orders have been served on the rowdy sheeters for their detention”,  a Press note of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate said. The two were among the nine members of the snake gang arrested in August last year after a rape victim lodged a complaint.
