Don't forget 50-day deadline, Shiv Sena chief reminds Modi

In no mood to let his party’s senior ally BJP over demonetisation, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday hit out once again at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue, lamenting that if someone spoke about the inconvenience caused by the scrapping of Rs1,000 and Rs500 notes, the person got dubbed as “dishonest”.

With three days to go for the end of 50-day deadline set by Modi for overcoming the hardships suffered by people on account of demonetisation, Uddhav said, “Modi had sought a time-line of 50 days to overcome the difficulties faced by people and said lash him if the hardships suffered by people were not over by then.  The 50-day deadline will be over in three days from now. Modi says that honest people will not face difficulties after 50 days. I am not sure as to when such a situation will arrive”.

“Modi’s demonetisation deadline will get over on December 30. What will we do on December 31stIJ,” Uddhav asked the people in a lighter vein.

likening Modi’s promise of relief to people to a mirage, Uddhav said, “The relief promised by the Prime Minister is like a mirage. Modi has asked women to walk barefoot on tar roads during hot summer days in search of a water source. The water source is a mirage that they will never find”.

“If someone speaks against demonetisation, the person concerned is dubbed as dishonest. That means if we or farmers speak against demonetisation, we become dishonest,” the Sena president lamented.
