Amidst allegations that the CPI(M)-led lDF Govern-
ment seems to have made it a policy to use the legal route to harass BJP leaders even over trivial issues, State BJP president Kummanam Rajasekh-
aran, against whom a case has been registered for posting a video in the social media allegedly showing Marxists celebrating the May 12 killing of local RSS leader C Biju by a Marxist gang in Kannur, has said he is certain that he will not get justice.
“Since the person responsible for the Home Department (Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan) has already judged me as a culprit, the sub-inspector of police in Kannur who is probing the case has nothing more to do. It is already clear what the probe’s result will be. So, it is certain that I won’t get justice,” Kummanam said in a Facebook post.
After Kummanam posted the video on Twitter and Facebook, the Chief Minister had criticised him and had stated that a case would have to be initiated against him for propagating the allegedly faked video. Close on the heels of this, the Kannur town police registered a case against the BJP leader on the basis of a complaint from SFI’s Kannur district leadership.
“I did post on Twitter and Facebook a video clipping of a celebration (allegedly by CPI(M) activists over the killing of Biju) that had come to my notice. I had done this in order to show how such celebrations could convey wrong messages to the society and also to draw the CPI(M) leadership’s attention to that incident,” Kummanam said.
Choorakad Biju (34), RSS Karyavahak in Ramanthali in Payyannur, Kannur was hacked to death by a seven-member Marxist gang at Palakkod near Pazhayangadi on May 12. Pointing at the lapses in the police investigation into the case, Kummanam said only two of the seven members of the killer gang had been arrested so far.
The Kerala BJP chief justified the party leadership’s decision to request Governor P Sathasivam for appropriate action over the continuing incidents of murder of BJP-RSS workers in Kannur by saying, “Whom else the victims should approach in search of justice when killings continue and the rulers fail (to curb such incidents)IJ The BJP was trying to get the right to live.”
The Kerala BJP suspects that the CPI(M), heading the State Government, is determined to book its leaders even on trivial issues as protests against the incidents of murder of their leaders and activists, especially in Kannur, are intensifying. “But they should understand that they are not going to gain anything out of this,” said a BJP leader
The police had booked S Suresh, Thiruvananthapuram district president of the BJP, on Tuesday over a statement he had made amidst a speech during a protest against the attack on a party worker allegedly by CPI(M) activists at Anavoor in the district. According to the BJP, this attack was the latest in a series of such incidents in Thiruvananthapuram.
