The commuters facing problems due to the usually over-crowded Metro station of Rajiv Chowk may soon get a sigh of relief as DMRC is working to decongest the station. The crucial task is proposed to be achieved by permitting passengers to interchange lines through the viewers gallery in the non paid area of the station. The decision was taken by MD of DMRC Dr Mangu Singh after a late night inspection of the Blue line of Delhi Metro on Friday night.
Managing director Mangu Singh, during his night inspection on Friday examined and discussed with Metro officers methodologies to reduce congestion at Rajiv Chowk. He directed officers to work on the possibility of permitting passengers to interchange through the viewers gallery in the non-paid area of the Rajiv Chowk Metro station as this would reduce congestion in the inside of the station", said Anuj Dayal, Executive Director (corporate communication) of DMRC. Mangu Singh had inspected the Yamuna Bank Depot and various stations of Blue line on the night of June 19-20 to take stock of the various maintenance activities and operational initiatives undertaken by Delhi Metro.
