The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has asked the University Grants Commission (UGC) to discuss with all stakeholders regarding review of qualifications of academic staff in the university level colleges.
A senior HRD Ministry official said that UGC has initiated action on the review by the HRD Ministry of the recent amendment to the UGC (Minimum Qualifications for appointment of teachers and other academic staff in universities and colleges and measures for the maintenance of standards in higher education) Regulations, 2010. The official informed that the stakeholder consultations will be organised by the UGC next week on Monday.
As a part of the process of the review mandated by the Ministry representatives of teachers from across the country will also be on board for stakeholder consultations on these issues. The Commission will also seek perspectives and suggestions from teachers for its consideration.
