Five police personnel, including the outpost incharge, have been placed under suspension after the suicide by a physically disabled girl in Chilbila Bazar, Pratapgarh.
Reports said that some musclemen had placed lock on her beauty parlour at Maurya Crossing, Chilbila. It is alleged that when no action was initiated against the miscreants, the girl hanged herself and ended her life on Sunday.
Agitated residents and shopowners blocked the Prayagraj-Ayodhya highway for hours and chased away the police party. Three shops on the Maurya crossing were initially owned by Makkhan Lal Jaiswal. He had six sons who fought among themselves after the death of Makkhan Lal for possession of the above shops. Kanchan Jaiswal, physically handicapped daughter of Makkhan Lal had opened a beauty parlour in one of the above three shops.
Kanchan lived with her brothers, Ashwini, Manish, and Harshit, while three brothers Sachin, Rishi, and Shahi lived separately.
The other three brothers sold the shops of their share to a muscleman, who reached the spot and placed lock on the whole building and shooed the residents away threatening them.
Kanchan approached the police repeatedly to get justice, but she got disappointed all the time. She committed suicide by hanging herself on Sunday.
The residents got agitated, closed the whole market and pelted stones on the shop of the accused and blocked traffic on Prayagraj-Ayodhya highway demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. They also levelled allegations on the police of partisan attitude. Police personnel, who had reached there to clear the traffic jam, were chased away by the locals.
When the officials later reached the spot, placed the cops under suspension and removed the lock placed by the accused, things became norman.
