Under attack from the Opposition on issues like Sharada and Narada, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Opposition, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi for teaming up against her on “non-issues” and “putting our men in jail on fabricated charges.”

Addressing an elections rally at Narayangarh in West Midnapore, Banerjee lambasted, “Modi Babu, why you have put our men behind the bars for two years by bringing false charges against them whereas your have let the CPI(M) and the Congress who gave birth to the scams like Saradha!”

The Prime Minister had earlier attacked Banerjee for the “Parivartan” she had undergone after coming to power when she was overlooking the scams committed by her party leaders.

Banerjee said “the Saradha was born in the CPI(M) regime. Their leaders were involved in it. The Congress were also involved in the scam but nothing has been done against them whereas our leaders have been put behind the bars on fabricated charges.”

Meanwhile, in a related development the lawyers of Trinamool Ministers, who were shown taking bribe in a Narada footage on Friday, opposed a suggestion from Calcutta High Court that the original copies of the footage be preserved in the custody of a central agency.

A PIl had earlier been filed at the High Court demanding examination of the sting footages for their genuineness.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Manjula Chellur was seeking the opinion of the lawyers as Narada CEO had earlier petitioned before the court showing apprehensions about his security in Bengal and had offered to hand the footages in Delhi. Court reserves order for Monday.
