A large number of devotees thronged the Katyayani Devi temple located in the premises of Atmavisheshwar Temple near Sankatha Temple on Friday on the auspicious occasion of Sasthi in the ongoing Shardiya Navratra. Elaborate security arrangement has been made in and around the temple to avoid any untoward incident. The devotees started thronging the temple right from the wee hours to have ‘darshan’ and perform ‘puja’ and continued to come till late night. Long queues of devotees were seen throughout the day as usual at the famous Durga Mandir (Durga Kund). Rush was also seen at some other temples, including Navdurga temple at Navapura. The barricading was done at Katyayani and Durga Kund temples to ensure convenient ‘darshan’ for the devotees who turned up in a large number. Not only this hundreds of devotees through various vehicles also rushed to Vindhyachal in Mirzapur district to offer prayers on this auspicious occasion apart from Old Durga Mandir at Ramnagar, Sheetla Mata Mandir at Adalpura (near Chunar, Mirzapur) and others. Kashi is a rare city where there are separate temples of all the nine Gauris and Devis where the devotees reach to offer prayers on different days during Basantik (Chaitya) and Shardiya Navratra respectively.
