Depositors ransack Rose Valley hotel

PNS

Enraged with delay in getting their money back hundreds of fleeced depositors of the Rose Valley chit fund company on Thursday ransacked a hotel owned by the group in a posh south Kolkata locality.

The attackers vandalised the up market hotel, heckled its staff, pelted stones and even jostled with the large contingent of police rushed in from nearby police stations, sources said adding they were complaining about inordinate in the chit fund probe and refund of their money as promised by the State Government.

“Every day we get reports that the Government is planning to return our money but nothing happens. The ED and the CBI also seem to have been handling the case casually. There is hardly any progress save occasional arrest of this leader or that,” said one of the depositors who lost Rs 50,000 to the chit fund company. “We have listened to enough promises. Now it is time for action . The Government and the investigating agencies will have to trace our money and return it back or the movement will get more fierce,” said another depositor.
