At a time Delhi Assembly results were coming adversely for the BJP, party national president Amit Shah’s son tied the knot with Rishita Patel in presence of heavyweights of BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and some of the top industrialists of the country.

Among those who made it to the high-voltage event were veteran BJP patriarch lK Advani, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and other Ministers in the Narendra Modi Cabinet including JP Nadda, Dharmendra Pradhan, Piyush Goyal, Suresh Prabhu, Rajiv Pratap Ruddy and Ananth Kumar.

Spiritual Gurus Baba Ramdev, Bharti Bapu as well as RSS and VHP leaders including Suresh Soni, Ashok Singhal and Dharmendra Maharaj have also attended the marriage ceremony. Besides, Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani were also seen with their wives Nita and Priti at the YMCA International Centre, the venue for Jay’s wedding. Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and her Council of Ministers, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand Parimal Nathwani, BJP leader V Staish, Medical Council of India’s Ketan Desai and many other dignitaries reached at the Jay’s marriage ceremony.

Sources close to Amit Shah informed that one of the worst defeats of BJP in recent times echoed at the high-profile marriage function too. According to them as the news of AAP’s thumping victory came, an emergency meeting was held at YMCA itself in which Rajnath Singh, Anandiben Patel, Rudy, Goyal and other BJP leaders discussed the whether Shah should speak to media or not. With trend starting in favour of the AAP, top BJP leaders who attended the wedding remained tight-lipped and most of them decided to avoid the media.

After solid performance of the saffron party under Shah’s leadership in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir this is for the first time the BJP witnessed heavy loss with only three seats.

Meanwhile, sources also said that following the Delhi Assembly result, procession ceremony was cancelled. As per original plan, the procession was to start from Mahakali temple to YMCA Club, said the sources. “22 Yajurvedi Brahmins were specially called on from Chennai to solemnized Jay & Rishita’s marriage,” they added.

As limited numbers of guests were invited for the wedding ceremony, two receptions have been kept on Thursday and Sunday in Ahmedabad and Delhi respectively, so that more number of people can be invited in Shah’s political and business circles. Sources said that PM Modi may attend reception at Delhi to be held on February 15.
