The sitting Councillor of Sangam Vihar, Kalpana Jha on Thursday surrendered before a city court after her anticipatory bail was cancelled by the High Court.She was arrested on the charges of molestation (354), illegal confinement (342), criminal intimation (506) and 323 (causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and SC/ST Act.
A senior police officer said that the incident occurred in the month of January last year when relatives of Kalpana Jha had a scuffle with their neighbours.“Accused Kalpana also reached at the crime spot and she had also thrashed and abused the neighbour of her relatives. later, police had registered the complaint on the basis of Jha’s relatives and the accused were sent to judicial custody,” the officer added.
