Terming the AAP Government’s decision to provide free water, electricity and rides for women in DTC and cluster buses as a stunt to garner votes in the forthcoming Assembly elections, senior Congress leader Jai Kishan on Saturday said if Arvind Kejriwal was really committed to the welfare of his citizens, he should immediately provide free rides in Gramin Sewa, State Transport Authority permitted buses and other feeder services used on a daily basis by a large number of people to travel by Metro in the national Capital.
Jai Kishan said providing free rides for women in Metro and DTC buses was not enough till the Government ensure that commuters were provided similar facilities to travel by those modes of transport through which they reach out to the metro stations. More than 25 lakh people commute by Delhi Metro on a daily basis. The Congress leader said that during the Congress regime, electricity bills were issued once in 66 days. “Now, it is issued every month to harass lakhs of power consumers.” He alleged that despite the Government’s tall claim of free medical treatment, there were neither medicines nor adequate beds available in any of the Government hospitals.
