In a bid to improve its image as a consumer-friendly organisation, the Delhi Development Agency (DDA) has undertaken a major exercise to restrict the activities of touts, who swarm its premises.
DDA top brass have observed that the visits of touts are very frequent in DDA headquarters Vikas Sadan and they try to take consumers in confidence for property dealing. “It is being observed that private property dealers visit DDA to approach our consumers for the property buying and selling. We are taking strict measures and preparing database of touts. DDA with its anti corruption branch will take stringent action against them,” said a senior official in DDA.
Adopting strict measurement, DDA has deployed their members, Police inspectors and constables to keep eye on numerous visitors. “DDA is trying to end the concept of middle man. We are preparing a database of DDA visitors that will be checked by the senior officials.” said an official.
While DDA visitor Kajal said that DDA is lacking to deliver the services on time and to make it easy to deal with administrative staff, consumers are constrained to take the help of touts. “Rather than to keep eye on touts, DDA should do some changes in public dealing department. The consumers are unsatisfied with the services and they can approach touts or private dealers outside the DDA main office,” Kajal added. She resides in laxmi Nagar and is a customer of DDA.
Reacting on the matter, DDA official said that their department is trying to deliver the flats on time and preparing such mechanism in public dealing so that consumer will not be trapped by the touts.
“At the initial stage, we have changed the public dealing timings to keep our consumers away from touts. The anti corruption branch will deal with the matter if any of DDA employee is found to associate with touts,” said official.
