The anti-corruption unit of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested an officer of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs1 lakh from a contractor for clearing his bills.
The CBI sources said Omvir Singh, a section officer with the DDA posted at Shaikh Sarai, was arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe. They said Singh had allegedly demanded Rs2 lakh for clearing the contractor’s bill, but the deal was finalised at Rs 1 lakh.
Sources said the contractor approached the CBI with the complaint that the officer had demanded a bribe. After getting the information, a CBI team laid a trap and Singh was arrested at his office in Shaikh Sarai while receiving the bribe.
