Una Dalit Atyachar Sangharsh Samiti — an organisation spearheading fight for Dalit rights Gujarat post flogging incidence of four Dalit youths near Una town, has invited Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan to experience ‘Badbu Gujarat Ki’.

It is well known fact that the Bollywood icon is the brand ambassador for Gujarat Tourism and promoting the State through a famous campaign ‘Khusbu Gujarat Ki’.

Taking clue from this famous campaign, the Dalit organisation has raised the issue of stink in the State in the backdrop of Dalit community’s resolution not to remove carcasses of dead animals from the public areas in protest of Una flogging incident.

“You (Bachchan) smelled scent of Gujarat at Modi's instance, now when we have stopped cleaning carcases of animals, do spend some time in Gujarat and smell its stink,” writes Jignes Mevani, convenor of Una Dalit Atyachar Sangharsh Samiti on his social media page.

Dalits would write post cards to Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday September 13 under the banner of Una Dalit Atyachar Sangharsh Samiti, said the 23-year-old lawyer-turned-activist Mevani who has been spearheading the agitation by Dalit community in the State post July 11, 2016 incident of Dalit flogging near Una.

The Dalit leader had also coordinated Dalit Rally that began from Ahmedabad and ended at Una on August 15. It is at this rally that he administered oath to the gathering of Dalits not to clean carcass of animals or clean sewage.

The organisation headed by Mevani is demanding agriculture land for every landless Dalit family in Gujarat so that they would change their profession and earn livelihood from other than their traditional work. He has also threaten the state government that if the demand would not be accepted, the large number of Dalit community members would initiate rail roko agitation from Thursday.
