A 24-year-old Mongolian national was allegedly molested by the superintendent of custom department posted in a post office in Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in Central Delhi. Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred on Thursday evening when the victim came to the post office to enquire about the current status of a parcel that she had sent back home.
Police said that the victim is a student of management and presently staying in rented accommodation in Vasant Vihar area. “The victim told the police that on Thursday evening around 4.30 pm, she along with one of her male friends reached at post office to enquire about the status of her parcels,” the officer added.
The victim, in her complaint, stated that in the last October month, she had sent two parcels to her home and then one in January month, but surprisingly both parcels did not reach to her parents. “On Thursday evening, when she came to enquire about the same, the customs superintendent first asked her to wait and when she along with her friend went inside, he asked her friend to go out,” a senior police officer said.
The victim alleged that after finding her alone, the superintendent started misbehaving with her and then held her hand and tried to grope her.
He molested her and tried to force himself on her. “The victim objected and started screaming for aid. The other office staff and her friend who was standing out rushed inside the room for aid, but the superintendent immediately ran away as he was scared of getting thrashed by public,” the officer added.
