According to the party leaders, the manifesto will focus on the "scrapping" of the UPA Government's neo-liberal policies besides the "fight against communalism." Party insiders hinted that the scraping of FDI in retail, UPA's approval on selling of shares of PSUs will be the main economic agenda of the manifesto.  The party document is expected to moot for enhanced State intervention in major sectors like infrastructure and massive public investment in agriculture and irrigation.

The CPI(M) manifesto is expected to promise number of labour/working class friendly measures and simplification of procedures in Income-Tax collection. Apart from promise of friendly Income Tax slabs to middle-class, party manifesto is expected to pinpoint to "plug the holes" in the collection of Corporate Taxes.
