In the wake of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remarks that conversions will continue to take place in the country, CPI(M) on Tuesday demanded a ban on re-conversions based on “false” assurances and inducements and sought action against those disrupting the communal harmony. The party’s politburo said that despite repeated demands in the Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has refused to spell out the stand of the Government on reconversion issue.
“Action should be taken under the relevant provisions of the law against those who are organising such activities which are disruptive of communal harmony and creating communal tensions,” the party said in a statement.
