An Army helicopter carrying supplies to forward posts in Siachen Glacier crashed on Monday morning. However, both pilots flying the Advanced landing Helicopter (AlH) parachuted to safety before the crash took place, defence sources said.
The AlH, popularly known as Dhruv had taken off from Siachen Base camp and reportedly crashed at around 8. 15 am. The helicopter was carrying food material and other supplies to the forward posts in the highest battlefield in the world.
It was not known whether the crash took place due to weather conditions or technical snag. The defence authorities are likely to order a probe.
