Congress hits back at Modi over 'lethargy' comment

PNS

The Congress launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in retaliation to his veiled attack against former UPA dispensation once again on foreign soil that he inherited “lethargy” from previous Governments. The Party stated that Narendra Modi insulting India on foreign soil now seems to have  become his compulsive habit.

The party slammed the statements made by Prime Minister following the ‘investor meet’, saying that Modi gets mentally overbalanced while on tour away from home. “Mai samajh sakta hun PM jab bhi videsh jaate hain, to apna maansik santulan kho jaate hain (Whenever Prime Minister leaves on a foreign tour, he loses his mental balance),” said Congress spokesperson RPN Singh.

Taking a jibe on the 15 months rule of NDA Government, the former Union Minister said that he is trying to prove the world that if anything significant has happened in India, it is only due to his 15 months of rule. “Videshon Mein Swadesh Par Vaar, Aise Hai Modi Sarkar,” Singh said at AICC briefing.

Another party spokesman Meem Afzal said that it was not proper for Modi to rake up domestic politics abroad despite repeated uproar by the opposition for his earlier such actions. “Prime Minister should have maintained dignity of the high office he holds. There is no problem if he targets previous governments when he is in the country. But he should have refrained from doing so on foreign soil,” Afzal said.

Noting that the Prime Minister had visited the historic Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque, the world’s third largest, during the visit, Afzal said it would be good if he visited a mosque in India too.

Singh also pointed that nation is faced with an acute situation on the Security as well as the Economic front. “We have a belligerent Pakistan shelling our borders and killing our Jawans and Civilians. Indian rupee has breached the 65/$ mark and IMD confirms a more than 10 percent deficit in monsoons, with grain bowl states like Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Maharashtra and Telangana facing a severe drought with more than 30% deficient rains. However, the Prime Minister did not even deem it fit to mention these issues in his speech from the Red fort an address,” Singh said.
