Congman threatened with 'bikini treatment' in Goa

Bikini, sun lovers’ favoured two-piece swimsuit, simply refuses to fade from the  headlines in Goa.

This time, a village sarpanch of a hinterland and largely conservative village in Goa, has threatened to parade Congress spokesperson Durgadas Kamat in the village in a bikini.

Rajesh Kavlekar, sarpanch of Bandora, a village in Ponda taluka, was responding to corruption allegations levelled by the Congress against PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar.

“If that Durgadas continues with his baseless allegations of corruption and enters our village again, we will make him wear a bikini and parade him in public,” Kavelkar told reporters.

Incidentally, Dhavalikar had earlier courted controversy calling for a ban against the bikini and ‘pub culture’.

At another Press conference on Wednesday at the Congress headquarters here, Kamat had alleged corruption in the Kashimath playground project coming up in Bandora, claiming more than one tender had been sanctioned for the same project by the PWD.

Kamat had also attacked Dhavalikar, earlier during the bikini ban controversy and had even purchased and couriered a pink mini-skirt to the Minister in a bid to embarrass him.

More than just the bikini threat, Kavlekar has said that Kamat would not be allowed to enter the village.

Reacting to the developments, State Congress president John Fernandes dismissed the threats. “They don’t own the village. We will deal with the threat appropriately,” Fernandes told The Pioneer adding that they were not “cowered by physical threats.”
