The BJP on Sunday hit out at the Congress for firing at Narendra Modi from shoulders of disgruntled civil servants of the State. Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley claimed the Congress strategy to use disgruntled bureaucrats against Modi will not succeed even this time.
“The Congress is on the backfoot as far as the leadership battle is concerned. Today it is under the impression that tweets, taunts and press conferences of its second row leaders will match Modi. This hasn’t worked. They are back to their old game of detecting a disgruntled police officer or a civil servant and getting him to make absurd charges. This didn’t work when Sanjiv Bhatt did it. It won’t work with Congress party’s newly discovered suspended civil servant doing it,” Jaitley wrote on social media site Facebook.
Jaitley’s barbs at the Congress came a day after suspended IAS officer Pradeep Sharma claimed he was targeted by the Modi government for having knowledge about the close relationship between the chief minister and the women who was snooped upon by the State police. Sharma made these allegations in an affidavit before the Supreme Court and demanded the court to consider his request for an independent CBI probe into the circumstances that led to the filing of a criminal case against him in 2008. He also sought explanation from the State Government for illegally tapping his phone as that of the woman.
“How does the Congress party deal with Narendra ModiIJ It is a question that the party is unable to answerIJ In Gujarat, the party has flip-flopped. Either they are very aggressive against him or alternatively they pretend that he doesn’t exist. In the 2012 State Assembly elections they could not project a leader to match him. They hired a young brand Ambassador to counter him. This dilemma obviously continues in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi is no match,” Jaitley said.
